I hope you are all feeling flexible as we continue with the theme of wellness this week!
Having covered some great ideas on both personal mindfulness and organisational wellbeing over the past couple of weeks, this week we are encouraging you to get moving and taking a look at the more physical side to wellness during your workday.
We all know that getting out and getting the blood flowing is good for our health and helps us stay happy and energised, but for most of us, this is outside of the workday or even (especially during the colder and darker months) reserved for the weekends.
Today we are speaking with Jill and Katie from Ebb&Flow to see how you can include a little more movement during your, and your employees’, day and what benefits it can provide.
Set up in 2017 by the mother and daughter duo, Ebb&Flow started as a yoga studio in Surrey that brought together their passion for helping people and the desire to highlight the need for wellbeing awareness to a wider community. This quickly led to a branching out to include a stunning streaming platform and a very well-received corporate wellness business.
With their Ebb&Flow Corporate Wellness customers including the likes of Chelsea FC, Pfizer UK Ltd, Hanson Plc, and Bionic Energy Plc, it is clear that they set the standard in the wellbeing industry, and deliver quality teaching and great results. They definitely know their stuff!
Jill and Katie, welcome and thank you for joining us.
Let’s get started with a little bit from you about the corporate wellness side of the business and what led to your expansion into the industry?
Corporate wellbeing is by no means a new concept, our clients all know that sustainable high performance of their workforce begins with a detailed look into how to support the ‘energy’ of their people.
Of course, with everyone working from home at the moment, it has become a buzz word and more companies are starting to look at how they can help their employees.
Good health and overall well-being are vital for employee engagement, and organisational performance when working from home; and with our core team coming from corporate business backgrounds, Ebb&Flow knows this as well as anyone.
The whole situation of home working, the isolation, the lack of social engagement, comradery, and mental stimulation, has led to a greater need for different outlets and inspired a raft of new ideas within our corporate wellness offerings.
What has proved to be popular within your new offerings for remote workers?
The online live Yoga classes have always been popular due to the well-documented physical, mental and emotional benefits, including reduced blood pressure, enhanced feelings of relaxation, stress reduction, and better posture.
However, recently there has been a lot of interest in desk yoga; offering a 20-minute break in the middle of the day to stretch, move, and zone out has proved to be exceptionally popular with remote workers and employers alike. It’s a great way to revitalise and boost creativity while encouraging people to take a break at lunchtime – it is all too easy to end up staying sat in the same place all day, but a little movement and mental break can reenergise us and get our productivity back on track.
We have also seen a great uptake in online workshops and seminars from experts in psychology and sleep medicine delivering subjects such as ‘The power of positive thinking’, ‘Defining personal success’, ‘The sleep school’ all have seen lots of great feedback from people who simply need this type of educational help.
How can offering this to employees help companies new to the world of remote working and the topic of organisational wellbeing?
It’s all about building a strategy and empowering your workforce so that they can learn to improve their own health. We all perform better when we are happy and feeling healthy, and this is just another resource that can help.
Our clients, both individual and corporate have reported a noticeable change in productivity and how their teams work together, especially at the moment, it also provides a non-work environment that builds those ever-important social connections, better stress management, and even fewer sick days taken.
Lastly, what resources do you offer that people can go and try for themselves?
We make our wellbeing packages as affordable as possible (starting at £150 + VAT) even for smaller businesses, but we also offer a free Desk Yoga session that you can arrange for your company by contacting Jill on 07968 798313 or going to our website www.ebbflowcorporatewellness.co.uk
We also have a number to free Yoga taster sessions that you can check out on our online platform called www.ebbflowyoga.tv where you will find over 300 + classes, for anyone who is interested in trying some more sessions for themselves.
Some of us here at Foundations have given the Desk Yoga a go and we have enjoyed the break from staring at the screen, so can highly recommend giving it a go!
As always, we encourage you to look after yourselves and hope that this series of blogs bring you some new perspectives and resources to add to your routine. How we work is changing and as we adjust, we need to find that new balance and routine.
