2 X Senior Back End Developer (Java) – Perm – Available Immediately

Located anywhere within EMEA.

This NASDAQ listed client is experiencing hyper-growth due to new business wins and urgently requires 2 X Senior Java developers to support and lead existing teams.

This role is working to develop high-volume, low-latency programs for mission-critical systems, delivering high-availability and performance.

Working closely with architects you would be heavily involved in the design process of the programs and assist with change management, capacity planning and emergency response as an expert of the runtime environment and business logic behaviour.

further to the role, you would support continuous improvement by investigating alternative technologies and presenting these for architectural review and of course serve as mentor/coach to more junior team members.

There will also be the need to translate non-technical and technical requirements to appropriate audiences within the business.

Tech environment and skills needed

•   5+ years of Java development experience, strong interest in problem solving, strong analytical skills & independence

•   Spring Boot experience

•   Experience with NoSQL technologies (Hazelcast, Redis…)

•   Experience in developing highly scalable REST microservices for Java platform.

•   Strong understanding of core Java

•   Good understanding of JVM, including analysing performance problems and finding optimization opportunities (ability to read GC logs, GC tuning, memory usage…)

•   Distributed computing: Load balancing, Caching, CAP theorem

•   Experience with managing high load performance applications: monitoring on all layers from CPU to application metrics

•   Understanding of common design patterns.

Brilliant to have

•   Experience with monitoring & logging technologies (Splunk, New Relic…)

•   Experience with infrastructure technologies (AWS, k8s, Terraform, Docker…)

•   BS/MS degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject

• Hands-on Linux experience.

•   Experience working with pub/sub/messaging systems (Kafka, ActiveMQ…)
